About Me

My photo
I was 53 in June. I feel like I'm 30. I live in Cold Cold Wisconsin. But, I love it here.. I found fabric and quilting about 8 years ago.. I fell in love with it.. I also enjoy paper art.. I'm not sure how I kept my sanity before I started doing art. I found rubber stamps about 10 years ago and have gone on to anything and everything.. I have been blessed with creative talents and love to express myself in art. I have 2 children .. one girl who is 15 and a boy who is 17. My husband and I love to hunt, canoe and just enjoy the outdoors together.. We all love the outdoors and go up to northern Wisconsin as often as possible. I'm a 14 year breast cancer survivor.. you can view more of my art at http://laurakrasinskiquilts.blogspot.com www.picturetrail.com/barngirl or my teaching, lecture and vending schedule here http://laurakrasinskisartontherun.blogspot.com

Mixed Media Sampler Quilt Class

I had a great time with my friend Patti and our wonderful teacher Lesley Riley. She is such and incredible artist. She is one of my biggest influences in the reason why I choose to start doing fabric art and art quilts. This is Lesley and I in class. And the other photo is of her project. To see more of her check out her blog....http://myartheart.blogspot.com/index.html I will post a photo when I have mine done. If you want to see Patti's go here.....http://pattis-creations.blogspot.com/ Hers is a few posts down and she has some of her favorite quilts from the show on her blog too.

Chicago was so fun!!!

We had such a great time in Chicago.. The quilt show was to die for.. I was like a kid in a candy store. Just being around all the art really stirred up my creativity.. I came home and cleaned my art room.. Then I was lucky enough today to stay home from work.. the bad thing is I'm staying home because my son is sick.. But, I worked on a deco book page that I have been stewing over. I had no creativity in me at all before the show.. Now I have alot for fabric and alittle more for paper.. So this is what I worked on today, besides cleaning, running to the store and etc...

Chicago or Bust!!!

Well, we are off to the quilt show in Chicago this morning.. After getting so much snow yesterday I wasn't sure if we would be going or not... But, a little snow can't keep us from going to see the beautful quilts. I'm so excited. I'm taking a class from Lesley Riley and one from Wendy Butler Berns. Both are great artists and teachers. Well, have a great weekend and I wil blog more next week. Hugs....Laura

And then she was there....

A friend of mine was making really cool felted people heads.. I loved hers so I tried my hand at my own... I couldn't do much with the colors I had.. I guess I need to get some darker colors or some flesh looking ones.. however, this is a bit whimsical I guess...

Deco Pages

We are using cabinet cards for deco pages.. or at least the images.. I made a copy and enlarged it a bit and made them standing closer together with wings... This was a fun page.

April is a great month..

I'm looking forward to Easter... We will be heading up north to Mike's sisters house. I hope to find a church to attend.. Easter is not Easter without going to church for me..
The next week is the Quilt show in Rosemont Illinois... 4 wonderful days of fabric.. I'm taking classes there too.. One with a wonderful art quilter...Wendy Butler Berns.. whom I know from my Milw. Art Quilters Group. And the other from Lesley Riley.. who has been my inspiration ever since I started doing fabric.. I have met her many times and she is just an incredible person. The quilts at the show are so inspiring.. It takes hours to view them all. Friday night is the quiltart reception which is always a great time. Quiltart is a list of thousands of quilters on the web. Whoever makes it to the show can go to the reception. They have a tiara parade and just a whole lot of fun.. It is neat to meet people face to face that you only know via internet.
Then it is back home.. 2 weekends after that is turkey hunting. Wow.. how did I go from Fabric to Turkeys... you tell me.. I love it all....Walking in the north woods is like taking a walk with God..Life is good.. even when we have the obstacles we have. If we didn't have them we wouldn't appreciate all the good times that we have. Right? Well, that is my ramblings for today... April is going to be a great month... I'm sure I'll keep you posted....

Oh La La

This is a bit risque.. but, the theme for this was Exotica..... so here is the ATC I made for it..
