About Me

My photo
I was 53 in June. I feel like I'm 30. I live in Cold Cold Wisconsin. But, I love it here.. I found fabric and quilting about 8 years ago.. I fell in love with it.. I also enjoy paper art.. I'm not sure how I kept my sanity before I started doing art. I found rubber stamps about 10 years ago and have gone on to anything and everything.. I have been blessed with creative talents and love to express myself in art. I have 2 children .. one girl who is 15 and a boy who is 17. My husband and I love to hunt, canoe and just enjoy the outdoors together.. We all love the outdoors and go up to northern Wisconsin as often as possible. I'm a 14 year breast cancer survivor.. you can view more of my art at http://laurakrasinskiquilts.blogspot.com www.picturetrail.com/barngirl or my teaching, lecture and vending schedule here http://laurakrasinskisartontherun.blogspot.com

It's been a long climb... Art Giveaway....!!!!

Ok.. there comes a time in a persons life when they start going backwards.. I guess that would be when you turn 50.. My AARP card arrived in the mail today.. right on schedule... Wow... how did they know? Life has been good ... at least up the hill.. now for the hopefully long plunge downhill...not spiralling would be good.. Since things are going to start going backwards I decided for my 50th birthday I will give someone ( one of my fans...hmph....) a Birthday Present.. Instead of getting presents.. I have always loved to give much more than to receive. Post to this blog.. and hopefully, if I remember on my birthday ( June 5th) I will put all the names in a hat and pull one special YOUNGER person or OLDER person ( because at 50 everyone is either Younger or Older) to win the piece of art I started on today!!! It will be FUN!!! I will give you a hint.. it has many different techniques in it.. some fabric, some wool, some beads, some ribbons... and it is a piece of art not a grab bag... Sooooo hold on to your keyboard and let your fingers do the talking.. Hope to hear from all my pals... from the past, present and the future.... Hugs to all...and thank you God for such a wonderful journey... SO FAR>.....

Hi Laura,
What a neat idea. Can I be in your hat, too. I'd love to win a piece of your art. I'll turn 50 in December.... How are we supposed to feel at this age??? I don't think I feel it. Will we ever truly grow up? I hope not. Happy birthday. Enjoy the journey of making your birthday pieces and the growing and stretching in life. Right now, I'm struggling with too many changes in too short a time span. Both of my college age daughter were going to be home for the summer. They both had jobs lined up at home. The same week I filed for divorce, they both got a job in Madison and will not come home except for a day here and there. My son, a junior in HS also is working all summer - 10 hrs a day/6days a week + a girl friend.
Since the kids are just about all grown up and leaving the nest. I must have gotten older after all.
God bless
Margot

I hear it's not really over at 50. I'm hoping that's true since I'll be turning 50 this year too. You can go first though. Have a great week....

I am breathing down your neck girlfriend!! i should have figured it out much sooner, that we were both Gemini's!!! I know that you will have a wonderful birthday and a wonderful year!! Live your life out loud!!!!!! i have decided that the4 best thing about pushing 50 is that I don't really care anymore what everyone else thinks-it is smuch moreimpotant to take care of ourselves and the ones that we love than to worry about the rest of it!!!
Huge Hugs!!

Happiest almost birthday Laura! I too will be 50 this year (a month after you)but feel about 25. My baby is leaving for college in the fall so my nest will be much emptier...maybe I will feel older then?
You have helped influence me to begin quilting (LOVE your bed quilt, that's what I am working on right now)so I look forward to seeing what you create next. And thanks for sharing.

HEY, what happened to my original comment! It was here yesterday Laura!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote that I am blessed to have you so close and near to me and that I LOVE your art and want to join your swap for your wonderful birthday! I also said....that you are the best lookin' 50, and that AARP can stick it.......unless they offer a discount on things, which in that case....hurray! :0)
Heheheeh and then I said that if I do not win the drawing, someone else will be blessed with a piece of your art and getting a little bit our generous hearted Laura, and that would be ok.....because I get to experience that all that time! <3 Love and hugs for your BD!
Patti
If this one disappears, then I am not meant to be in the draw!

Happy Birthday Laura! I absolutely LOVE your Collage Mania piece. I wish that I had been more on the ball with that. Maybe as I get older, I'll become wiser..... I'm not quite 50 (a few more years) but I'm pretty sure that with 50 comes some kind of brilliant wisdom.....

Hello, Laura- (I came from Marilyn's letter) I'd love to be in on your drawing! I guess I'm one of your "older" entrants, as I just celebrated my 54th May 11th, but I don't feel it either.

Happy Birthday Laura. 50 is a good time and I don't think your going backwards yet. Just so you know I moved the crest of the hill to 60, when I get there in 2.5 years I may have to move it again. LOL.

Happy, happy birthday to you, dear Laura. Don't get too sidetracked by the celebrations from your wonderful creative journey. Passing forty was much harder than passing fifty for me. However, passing the mirror is now something I avoid!
