UGHHH I'm so behind...

I wanted to share with you what my wonderful sister gave to me for my birthday... first off she gave me a gift card for Peace and Quiet.. that is what I told her I wanted.. so Off to get a massage or facial ( when I have a free moment ): ) And she also bought me a very useful book.. it is called " Diseases and Problems of OLD AGE..." I told her that I new she had already read it because she has had all of these diseases and problems at one time or another.... We laughed... She also bought me some very cool fabrics.. They are called Bali Watercolor wraps.. by Hoffman.. there are 4 tubes with 20 colors in the tubes and 2 7x7 inch squares of each.. here are all of them... So I have 120 7x7 squares of the hoffman fabrics to use for ?????? and for my McKenna Ryan patterns when I get some more... Very beautiful colors... I just love them... Thanks sis...you are the best..
Today I had to take off early to take my machine in... I apparently screwed it up...literally the bobbin tension.. it is working great now and I promised Brad at Franks sewing center that I would never touch the bobbin tension again!!! Oh was I P.Oed over the weekend when I was trying to free motion quilt and all I had on the back was birds nests... I 've had that problem before.. now I know why... Thanks Brad!!!
I'm anticipating this weekend .....STATE FAIR!! I will be going Thurs and Friday this week... what fun!!! I will visit my quilt and have a few beers.. and listen to Andrea and the Mods...they are a great band.. Well, that is all for now... Toodles......

Fun Deco Pages

I am finishing up a deco round and I worked today in the last book. It was a paper bag book. I used encaustic wax on the pages which gave them a great texture. Patti's book was nature... I think I captured some nature in my pages.

My first win...

I'm so excited.. I entered my Balls in space quilt into the state fair and I took 3rd place.. which means my quilt will be in the fair.. and it is the first time I have ever won anything ...I'm soooo excited... here is a photo of it in case you don't remember from previous posts..

My Hoffman Challenge Quilt is done!!!

I'm so excited.. I finished my HCQ. What a great experience again... I always learn something when I do these challenges. I'll be sending the quilt to California and what I am most interested in is what the judges have to say. I'm hoping it gets picked to travel but, since it is my first time I am just happy to be able to send it and received the comments on what I can do to improve my techniques. Soooo here is "Complete Serenity"

The Blue Herons...

You all know how much I love Blue Herons. I made this journal quilt depicting the Heron rookery near my house and how all the developments around the area has caused them to start to move out. There was an interesting article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel yesterday regarding the rookery. Some of the problems are talked about in the article.. THey took utility poles and put stands up there for the Herons to roost. To make a long story short the wood they used has not held up.. You can read the article here.

It would really be heart breaking for me if the herons moved out of the area. From what the article says they are planning to rebuild the stands on the poles this winter. My husband has decided to call them and donate some hardwood to them for building the stands. Sooooo we will see what happens... This is just an ongoing story that I hope has a happy ending..

Making Catnips toys..

I found some cool fabric up in door county to make cat toys with.. Soooo my daughter and I have been sewing these up and stuffing them with stuffing and catnip for both our cats and our friends cats tooo... Both sides look the same... I may have to set up an Etsy shop yet...
